18 Aug Laura and Jarrett’s Brisbane wedding
Laura and Jarrett chose the gorgeous venue of Bougainvillea House at Howard Smith Wharves, overlooking the river, with the backdrop of the Story Bridge and a glistening city skyline to host their special Brisbane wedding ceremony. The day shone bright with a brilliant blue, sunny Autumn sky – it couldn’t have been more perfect!
What I loved most about this Brisbane wedding ceremony
This was a very special ceremony for me, being step-mother of the bride! I have known Laura since she was five years of age and seeing her looking so stunningly beautiful as she walked down the aisle on the arm of her father, to meet Jarrett, was very emotional.
So, as well as the family connection, what did I love most about this ceremony?
- The Brisbane wedding ceremony location was stunning to say the least, made more beautiful by the gorgeous white and blush florals adorning the space. Petals were strewn down the aisle and fluttered in the soft afternoon breeze – it was like a floral wonderland!
- Laura and Jarrett wanted to keep things simple and it really just spoke so much to their approach to life – it was all about declaring their love in front of family and friends. They wrote some beautiful vows and it was obvious to everyone how much their love for each other is going to be the rock that supports them for the rest of their lives.
Some unique ceremony touches
Laura and Jarrett decided not to have a bridal party, but Laura’s sister, Stephanie, soon-to-be-sister-in-law, Julia, and cousin, Sophie, all supported her in the pre-wedding preparations – and in a nod to the bride – they all wore white.
The couple asked their niece, Grace, to present the rings, which was a special touch. Grace did a fabulous job, looked gorgeous, and felt very much involved in the day.
What made the wedding ceremony extra personal
There are so many special family and friends to Laura and Jarrett, and they particularly wanted to acknowledge Jarrett’s Uncle Peter, who had been a big part of his upbringing, and Laura’s mum, Susan. So, both Peter and Susan were the witnesses, which was a lovely recognition of the role they have played in their lives. We also acknowledged Jarrett’s parents – his mother who had passed away when he was only five months old and his dad who passed away recently – a very special and emotional moment.
The couple had also decided to employ the help of a wedding stylist/planner – Christie – who did an amazing job understanding Laura and Jarrett’s aesthetic, to style the venue and be a reliable support both before and on the day – a great investment.
The ceremony – in the couple’s own words…
Our experience with Evvoke Celebrations was absolutely amazing from start to finish. From the very first appointment with Maria where we went through our personal history and how we envisioned our ceremony, Maria is so friendly she made us feel really comfortable, we had the best time! We left the meeting feeling very impressed, reassured and excited for our day.
Maria provided us with so much helpful information, answered all our questions, and made it really easy for us to customise our ceremony to be exactly what we wanted it to be. She also offered suggestions and solved a few issues we hadn’t even thought of! She followed us up when we were distracted with other things during the wedding planning process to make sure we had everything finalized with her and organised well ahead of time.
Maria did a rehearsal with us so that on the day, everything went so perfectly and smoothly, it looked very polished. We also received beautiful printed cards of our personal vows to each other, which we will always cherish. The ceremony was absolutely the highlight of our day, we can’t count the number of people who have specifically mentioned to us how amazing Maria was on the day and how special and how unique she made the ceremony. We would not hesitate to recommend Evvoke Celebrations to anyone looking for the most perfect celebrant to share their special day with!!
